NSDC, Cultus Education & AWS Launch Nationwide Cloud and AI Skilling Initiative

NSDC, Cultus Education & AWS Launch Nationwide Cloud and AI Skilling Initiative

NSDC–Cultus Education–AWS Cloud & AI Skilling Initiative

The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, along with Cultus Education, has launched a nationwide initiative to expand access to cloud computing and Artificial Intelligence skills in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS).

The initiative is particularly focused on young people in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, aiming to reduce the geographical gap in access to globally recognised technology training and employment opportunities.

Key Highlights
150,000 learners will receive foundational AI and cloud literacy.
10,000 participants will receive intensive, job-oriented training.
Training will be delivered through AWS digital training content and the AWS re/Start program.
The initiative will cover all States and Union Territories.
Special focus will be placed on youth from underserved communities and emerging talent hubs.
Training will be delivered 100% online through Cultus Education.
The initiative will culminate in a National Hackathon.
Successful AWS re/Start graduates will earn an AWS Certification and receive access to qualified interview opportunities through employer connections.
What is AWS re/Start?

AWS re/Start is a free, cohort-based workforce development program designed to help individuals develop practical cloud-computing skills and connect with employment opportunities.

The program provides structured training in areas such as:

Cloud infrastructure
Networking
Cloud security
Programming
Relational databases
Artificial Intelligence fundamentals
Hands-on cloud laboratories
Real-world scenario-based learning

Participants receive support from professional mentors and accredited instructors during the training journey.

From Learning to Employment

The initiative follows an outcome-oriented learning pathway.

Step 1 → Foundational Learning

Learners begin with AWS digital training content and develop basic knowledge of cloud computing and AI at their own pace.

Step 2 → AWS re/Start

Participants demonstrating readiness can progress to structured, instructor-led AWS re/Start training.

Step 3 → Practical Training

Learners gain hands-on experience through:

Labs
Coursework
Real-world scenarios
Programming exercises
Networking and security training
Database concepts

Step 4 → Certification

Successful graduates will earn an AWS Certification, providing an industry-recognised credential validating their cloud-computing skills.

Step 5 → Employment Opportunities

Graduates will gain access to qualified interview opportunities through connections with local employers.

Step 6 → National Hackathon

The learning journey will conclude with a National Hackathon, where participants can showcase their cloud and AI solutions before hiring managers, industry leaders and other stakeholders.

Why is the Initiative Important?

India's technology sector is witnessing increasing demand for skills related to Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity and digital technologies.

However, young people in smaller cities can face challenges such as:

Limited access to globally recognised technical training
Fewer connections with technology employers
Lack of industry-recognised credentials
Need to relocate to metropolitan cities for specialised opportunities

The initiative attempts to address these challenges by providing training online, allowing learners from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities to participate without relocating to major metropolitan centres.

Significance for Viksit Bharat 2047

The initiative aligns with the broader vision of building an inclusive, skilled and future-ready workforce as India moves towards Viksit Bharat 2047.

According to Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, access to future-oriented skills should not be determined by geography or background.

The initiative therefore connects skill development with inclusive growth, technological advancement and employment generation.
